General FAQ's
1. Can invitees share my photos with others?
No, only the creator of an album has the right to share it with others. All albums are secure to the creator and only they have access to share the album. If you would like to make an album available to your yearbook group, contact your account manager.
2. Why do I need to register with Yearbook Designer Live?
You are required to sign up to create photo galleries and work on personal and group projects. By asking everyone to register you can be confident that those using Yearbook Designer Live! have agreed to the terms and conditions and will use the site for sharing appropriate content.
3. How many photos can I upload?
The upload system allows you to upload 50 images at a time, although there are no limits on how many images you can have in your account or how many albums you may create. Remember to make sure that the files you are uploading are RGB, either .jpg or .tiff and under 5mb per image.
4. Is there a maximum image size?
The current size limit for each image is 5MB. This is more than sufficient to create your yearbook at its highest quality. If your images are larger than 5MB use a photo editing program (such as Photoshop) and either resize your image or reduce the image resolution (we recommend keeping the resolution between 200 and 300 dpi.)
5. Why is it taking time to upload?
The upload time or your images varies greatly and largely depends on your Internet Service Provider’s (ISP) upload speeds. Remember, many ISPs have a much slower upload speed than download speed. Our image servers support uploads at up to 100MB/sec, which in most cases is more than 500 times the speed of an internet connection to guarantee the fastest uploads to all users. Typically, it can take +/- 1min per 1MB of upload on slower lines.
6. Are there any uploading tips?
• Try and avoid uploading large images over 5MB as these are unnecessary unless you are producing large format prints
• Minimize the browser window and work on something else while files are uploading.
• Before uploading, organise your images into folders that represent the albums you want to make as this will help save time searching for image online afterwards.
7. Can we pay for our yearbooks or prom tickets offline?
Yes, contact your account manager or call 01480 410432 to arrange paying offline
8. My login isn't working/I've forgotten my password, what should I do?
Navigate to 'Projects' and you will be shown the login page, type in your email address and click 'Forgotten my password' An email will be sent to your address with your password for logging in. Please contact us on 01480 410435 if you need further assistance.
9. Can I add / delete pages in / out of our yearbook?
If you are working on an individual project then you can add or delete pages as you wish using the add / remove pages buttons to the bottom right of the editor beneath the 'save' button. Please be aware that your final price will increase as your page count increases.
If you are working on a group project then you must ask your Staff Admin user before deleting any pages. Use the add / remove buttons to the bottom right of the editor window, pages are added / deleted in single pages and will always be added to / deleted from the end of your project (see 'Reorder pages' above to find out how to move pages to the end of your project).
10. Can I lay an image across two facing pages?
The rearrange pages function prevents you from being able to lay an image across two pages, the same effect can be created by inserting your image on the left and inserting the same image on the right, activate cropping (in the inspector panel) to move the image around inside the image box. Please ensure your boxes on each page are dragged over past the page edge to give the effect of the double page spread.
11. Can I add special characters and emoticons to my pages?
No, this will cause your page to disappear from your project, this may also happen if you copy + paste text from other files into the editor. If one of your pages does disappear, please get in touch with your account manager for help.
